Flight 08/25/19 I departed at 1 pm. I hooked a thermal on release and climbed to 5,600 ft. At this point, I decided to head west to Cleburne. From Cleburne, I wanted to go further to Pecan Plantation. When I arrived over the green land area (no man’s land) which is west of Cleburne area the lift was few and far between. I changed course heading to the south but that didn't work either. I struggled over the Cleburne area which seemed last a million years. I got down to 3500 thinking I might need to land at the airport. Fortunately, I found a thermal that finally got me back to 6000 ft so the game continued. I decide to head back to TSA and think of another flight plan. At TSA I found a good thermal back to 6000ft. The lift was better heading south rather west. From TSA I headed south to West. The CU looked good but the thermals were far apart. My flight over the course was up to 6k then down to 3k and repeated this cycle over and over. The last thermal was near Hillsboro to 6,000 ft and decided this was enough and headed back to TSA on final glide. Total flight time was 3.3 hrs. If you view the map of the flight this was a typical lucky numerical (7) up flight. Next timet I hope to complete the challanging butterfly pattern.
