Declared task: Malden-OeldeBergeler-Koblenz-DahlemerBinz-Malden ~ 560 km.
Very difficult beginning, around Emmerich I was scratching between 400-600m. Further east weather improved but I soon realized my avg speed was way too slow for such a task. Entry into Sauerland a bit difficult, with a blue 20-30 km gap just before and some small cumulus puffs that were dissapearing when I reached them. I decided to cut the task short and fly through the corridor between Dusseldorf and Koln, as my average speed was not doing great. Sauerland had fantastic weather but unfortunately only to the East, and towards West it was getting blue. No para activity at Radevormwald. Powerplant at Bergheim gave a really nice thermal and then silence for ~ 20 km into blue weather with thickening Cirrus screen. Crossing Geilenchirken approved (not active, thanks Langen Info) and then it became more clear that I was not going to reach Malden in time. Decided to land on Venlo (thank you VEZC for the hospitality) to save my self from the trouble and risk of an outlanding.
